Conservation District
The Smith and Mason Valley Conservation District focuses on improving natural resource management, water quality, and habitat restoration. Our goals include reducing soil erosion, improving water efficiency, and managing flood control in key watersheds. We assist landowners with grazing management, invasive species control, and fire risk reduction.
We collaborate on projects to control noxious weeds and improve Sage Grouse habitats, including tree removal and weed eradication efforts. Our fuels management programs reduce wildfire risks through vegetation treatments and reseeding.
We also provide educational material on resource management, offer support for landowners, and sponsor programs like Nevada Range Camp. The District is committed to sustainable land practices and works closely with local and state agencies to promote resource conservation in Smith and Mason Valley's.
